Parity Generator and Checker
Generates an even-parity bit for 4 data bits with an XOR tree, then checks a received parity bit for single-bit transmission errors.
What You'll Learn
- Generate an even-parity bit with an XOR tree
- Detect single-bit errors by comparing parity
- See why XOR is the parity operation
How It Works
An XOR tree combines the four data bits into an even-parity bit (high when an odd number of data bits are 1). The checker XORs the generated parity against a received parity bit; a mismatch lights the Error output, catching single-bit errors.
